NEW DELHI – India Monday signed a $3 billion order for Russian military hardware, including 42 Sukhoi SU-30 fighter jets and 71 Mi-17 military helicopters in a major boost to the longstanding defense ties between the two countries

Marking Russian President Vladmir Putin’s day long visit here Monday to attend the 13th Russia-India summit,ten big deals spanning diverse sectors like defence, telecom, information technology, financial services, pharmaceuticals, energy, investment and trade were signed.

The two countries envisage doubling of bilateral trade to $20 billion in three years.
